These days, I tend to think of my life in two sections. Pre-2015 and post. So many things had changed for me in 2015. Some of those I'd written about in this journal. Others I'd written about and had to redact since.
I'd always been somewhat guarded when it came to my personal life, but after 2015 I loosened the grips a little, just as I began to navigate life as a single man. It didn't necessarily bite me in the behind, but this year I began the journey back to being more private, at least when it came to social networks.
Not only did I shut down my profiles on two of the most popular social networks, I went so far as to initiate the removal of my public information from the various, invasive public information websites out there. It just... it just isn't anyone's business. I want to be able to control that information. I realize I can't do that 100% but I'll at least try to take care of it as best as I can.
Since I'm no longer on any of the prominent social networks, I tend to use this journal as an update on my life, as it were. To anyone interested of course. You may not be. I don't blame you. I'm fairly ordinary.
A lot of things happened this year as well, just as they'd had in 2015. But I'm much calmer this time around. Smarter, though not without the ability to make dumb mistakes. Harder, yet in touch with my empathy more than ever. Less of a raw nerve. More resolved. Less regretful, though there are things that I regret.
And things around me are changing. Friends getting into relationships, getting engaged and getting married. Time moves forward. And I'm looking forward to cultivating relationships with those special people and things in my life that I'm fortunate enough to have. Some are new. Some have always been there. But I'm excited none the less.
Glancing ahead to 2018, and perhaps despite our current political clusterfuck, I can't say that I'm not thrilled. The road is wide open. Trips are in the works. Fun trips. Bike trips. Yummy trips. Warm trips. Great company trips.
I can't wait to get back on the bike. This will hopefully be the first year where I don't move onto a different one. Just keep getting to know my C-Spec. Modifying it little by little. New seat maybe. A wrap. Who knows.
More art projects are coming as well. More music, writing, photography and films. And I'm also in the process of starting a new site called MotoSkull. It'll be a site dedicated to my experience with the motorcycle culture as well as some goodies you'll be able to buy. To get a limited preview head over here and take a look.
Dare I say that things are looking up, though not that they were ever really down for me. I just want more of the good stuff. Less of the bad. More optimism. Less disappointment. More local food. Less McDonalds. Oceans. Hills. Forests. Beaches. Sunny roads.
The world in our hands and hands on our hearts.
Stay frosty my friends.
